FROM CHILLS TO THRILLS
Introducing the third album from Glasgow’s pomegranate. ‘The Thrill Of Fresh Paint’ is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed albums, ‘This Illusion Sound’ and ‘On Black Peak’. From the beginning it is obvious they are on to something new here.
Whereas the first albums explored the chilled side of gritty, melodic ambience, this time there's a new approach. The new sound is more upbeat and spontaneous. Having been inspired by their live work at the time of On Black Peak, pomegranate have taken that experience and fed it into the mix when creating the new set of songs that make up The Thrill Of Fresh Paint.
Some early press:
They sound like a more laconic Ladytron, a female-fronted exploration of laid-back electronica replete with lush melodies. More than worthy of your support. (HERALD RECOMMENDATION 22/3/07)
The dozen tracks here offer a few unearthed diamonds (the Massive Attacky ‘Underground Saint’ and the nursery rhyme simplicity of ‘Nests’). Like early Cocteaus but with a spring in its step, most of Pomegranate’s third album stumbles haphazardly towards a vague notion of gorgeous imperfection. (THE LIST 15/3/07)
‘Jackson and Idreamasound work well, and offer a glimpse of what Cowboy Junkies might sound like if they stumbled across a drum machine.’ (SCOTSMAN 23/3/07)
