‘The Hawk Is Howling’ sees Mogwai return to a totally instrumental landscape, with many songs coming in at around the eight minute mark. The album was recorded with Andy Miller at Chemikal Underground and mixed by Gareth Jones at Castle Of Doom. It’s the first time the band have recorded with Andy Miller since they worked with him on their debut ‘Young Team’ album, recently re-issued as an acclaimed two disc set. The album features the single ‘Batcat’, which was Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record In The World.

The album will be made available as a CD, double LP and digital download, and as a limited edition CD with a bonus DVD (limited to 12,000 copies) featuring a film of the band by cult French filmmaker and blogotheque founder Vincent Moon and Teresa Eggers called ‘Adelia, I Want To Love’, as well as two videos of the ‘Batcat’ single; one from up and coming Warp Films director Dominic Hailstone and the other from Chilean animator Fernando Alberto Mena Rojas.

The artwork is designed by Aidan Moffat. The CD / DVD and the double vinyl come complete with inner sleeves and prints inside and out to complete a beautiful package that totally compliments the music.
